![]() ![]() In between the fights (called hunts), you're actually managing a village and resources, and doing some choose your own adventure stuff moving a long a time track. which could be potentially good, but also potentially bad - removing easier to deal with cards and leaving only more vicious cards in the deck to deal with. so as you wound the monster, you remove cards from its rotation. The deck also serves as the HP of the monster. ![]() You don't need a DM - the monster is played off a 'monster AI deck' - a deck you draw from to determine how the monster will behave. Like the hook was the creator wanted to make a new warhammer quest, except after some playtesting he found that the most compelling part of those games were the bosses, so said fuck it - let's just fight big nasty monsters like Monster Hunter. Not sure how it'll play - by the spiel that sold me back then was that the game was essentially a monster hunter x dark souls party survival game that could be played solitaire. It's only just finished production and they're finally getting ready, putting it together and shipping it out to backers. Shit was the biggest boardgaming kickstarter back in the day by a pretty long shot (two fold over the previous record holder). I kickstarted one a few years ago called Kingdom Death Monster.
